The men in Central Iowa were unable to overcome turnovers and cold shooting performances here on the second day of Saturday's Great Western shootout.

In the game against Dakota County on Friday night, Terry and his team lost the score to Central Columbus in the Hodges Field 58-54.

Kevin Taylor had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Jordan Majid had 14 points and Javent Keck had 11 points.

For the Raiders, Kevin Cook scored 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Tredvor and Jayden Bibator scored 12 points.

"So far this season, we have had some basketballs that we played very well and smartly, and there were also some places we didn't have," said Iowa Central coach Chad Heller. "Simple and clear, that's why we have the current record. Before we can put it together for 40 minutes, we will find ourselves in a game like this."

The Iowa Central team took the lead early in the Central Columbus game because Majid scored 8 points in the first half, and Baker and Keck each added 6 points. They led 28-19 at halftime, but only made 9 of 26 shots in the game, including 1 of 7 from the three-point line.

After the intermission, the Raiders caught up with Triton's lead with a score of 12-2, leading 38-36. The Iowa Central team returned to the top with 41-40, but Central Columbus continued to exert pressure. Driven by the 29-13 scoring, the Raiders rose 7 points late in the second half.

"When our shot didn't fall, we didn't attack the basket there," Helle said. "In the first half, we did a good job. When we fell behind, we started to be anxious for success."

Taylor tied the score to 53 points, but the Central Columbus team scored the next 5 points.

In the loss to Dakota County, Barber scored 24 points and Baker had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Central Iowa resumed operations when heading to Marshalltown on Tuesday.
